A theatre and film music composer, author of literary song. He was born on 3rd of January 1937 in Kraków and has been bound with this city to this day. He studied in the Academy of Music in Kraków at the Composition Faculty in the years 1956 - 62. In 1959 he made his debut in the famous literary cabaret “Piwnica pod Baranami” and for several years was its only professional composer. He created an original song style in which the music interprets the poetical text, brings out the meaning, creates emotions. He is called “a cheerful composer of sad songs”. He has created music to texts of distinguished Polish and foreign poets, interpreted by numerous singers, with the most famous one being Ewa Demarczyk.

A cinematographer and documentary film director. While making his documentaries, he constantly cooperates with the American television HBO. A graduate of the Katowice Film School, currently employed in the position of its lecturer. A two-time winner of ”Golden Lions” in the category of cinematography during the Festival of Polish Feature Films in Gdynia for films Pręgi (Welts), Rewers (Reverse) as well as the winner of “Bronze Frog” during Camerimage for the film Rewers (Reverse). A laureate of numerous awards for documentary films, among many others, in Berlin, Karlovy Vary, Nyon, Kraków, Teheran. His films are presented during various prestigious festivals (Amsterdam, Moscow, Rotterdam, Washington, and others). A member of the European Film Academy, Polish Society of Cinematographers, Polish Film Academy and Polish Filmmakers Association. His domain is specialist photography with special regard to aerial and underwater photography as well as photography involving application of Alpine climbing techniques. A graphic artist, painter, scriptwriter, director, teacher. In 1967, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, he studied painting, graphic arts and animated film in classes of such professors as Wacław Taranczewski, Konrad Srzednicki, Włodzimierz Kunz. Right after completing his studies he worked as a graphic artist and painter, participating in around 150 exhibitions in Poland and abroad, and receiving a number of awards, including the 1st Award in graphic arts at the National Competition of Arts “Wiosna Opolska”. Since 1981, he has been involved in teaching work at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, being in charge of the Animated Film Studio. In 1984, he was granted the title of professor of Fine Arts. He led as a guest classes and workshops on animated film with students in National Film and Television School in London, at the University of Munster, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Vilnius, Toulouse and Vienna.

As the supervisor he oversaw and created special effects to film productions in Europe, USA and Asia (including Arbitrage, Vamps, Essential Killing, Testosteron, Młyn and Krzyż). Lecturer in courses related to post-production. An active co-creator of events and projects that connect people with different kinds of media.
